Usetiful Alternatives in 2026: What to Use Now That Usetiful Is Part of Fullstory

TL;DR
- Usetiful is no longer sold on its own. Since Fullstory acquired it on 3 November 2025, its features ship as a paid add-on called “Guides and Surveys,” available only on top of a Fullstory Analytics plan.
- The purchase changed shape, not just price. Nothing is publicly priced. Third-party buyer data puts the realistic floor around $10,000/year, against the €29–€99/month Usetiful used to charge.
- Three alternatives worth shortlisting first. Product Fruits is the closest like-for-like match for Usetiful's full toolbox, from $111/month. HelpHero is the cheapest way back to product tours at $55/month. Userpilot is the one to look at if you wanted product analytics alongside guidance — the same pitch as Fullstory, at a fraction of the contract.
- You can't port your flows. No tool in this category offers a Usetiful import. Plan a rebuild, and use the audit to delete what wasn't working.
If you went looking for Usetiful pricing recently, you didn't find a pricing page. You got redirected to a press release.
That's not a bug. Usetiful's pricing URL now redirects to Fullstory's acquisition announcement, and the homepage points new visitors to something called “Guides and Surveys” instead of a signup form. The tool you were evaluating — or already running your onboarding on — is no longer a product you can buy.
If you're an existing customer, nothing breaks today. Your contract runs as written. But the renewal conversation you have next is going to look very different from the one you had last year, and the thing you're renewing into isn't priced like the thing you bought.
This guide covers what actually changed, what it means for your situation, and seven alternatives with pricing verified this month.
Why teams are looking at Usetiful alternatives now
Fullstory acquired Usetiful on 3 November 2025. Usetiful's functionality was relabeled and folded into Fullstory as a paid add-on called Guides and Surveys, described by Fullstory as a way to “drive product adoption and gather user feedback with in-app guides.”
Three things follow, and they're the only three that matter to a buyer:
1. It isn't sold on its own anymore. Guides and Surveys is an add-on. To get it, you buy one of Fullstory's three Analytics plans — Business, Advanced, or Enterprise — and add it on top. There is no path to the guidance features without the analytics platform underneath.
2. The add-on is available on every paid tier. Worth stating plainly, because plenty of acquisitions go the other way: you are not forced up to Enterprise to get in-app guides. Business tier is enough.
3. Nothing is publicly priced. Fullstory's pricing page lists all three tiers with “contact sales” and no figures. So does the add-on. You cannot estimate your cost without a sales call.
The cost jump, in plain numbers
Usetiful's old pricing was a free plan (1 tour, ~2,000 assists), Plus at ~€29/month (5,000 assists), Premium at ~€99/month (20,000 assists), and custom Enterprise. Call that €350–€1,200/year for a paying SMB customer.
Because Fullstory publishes nothing, the only way to make the other side concrete is buyer data. Vendr, which negotiates SaaS contracts and publishes aggregates from real purchases, reports the following across 455 recorded Fullstory purchases:

The median Fullstory buyer pays $28,240/year, with buyers saving around 19% off list on average. And all of that is before the separate, still-unpublished quote for the Guides and Surveys add-on itself — the part that actually replaces Usetiful.
So: a customer paying €29–€99/month is now looking at $10,000/year as the floor, before the add-on is priced. Depending which tier you were on, that's somewhere between roughly 8x and 25x the old spend, for a product that used to be standalone, self-serve, and no-code.
This is not an argument that Fullstory is overpriced. For a team that genuinely wants session replay, heatmaps, and product analytics alongside in-app guidance, one bundled contract can beat buying those separately, and connecting behavioral data to guidance is a real advantage. It's a strong platform.
It's an argument that the purchase changed shape. Usetiful was a tool you could expense. Fullstory is a platform you procure. For the SMB segment, the question isn't “which Fullstory tier do I need” — it's “which Usetiful alternative do I switch to instead.”
What existing customers should do
Nothing changes right now. Fullstory has said existing accounts continue under current contract terms, and Usetiful's support address still works. You have time.
Use it to find out what your renewal looks like. Ask Fullstory directly what happens at the end of your current term — whether legacy pricing carries forward, for how long, and what the Analytics-plan requirement means for your account specifically.
Get it in writing. That answer decides whether this is a “re-evaluate in 18 months” problem or a “start migrating this quarter” problem, and you can't guess it from outside.
What to look for in a Usetiful alternative
Usetiful's feature set was product tours, onboarding checklists, smart tips and tooltips, banners, surveys and NPS, and a knowledge base. Most teams used maybe half of it. Work out which half was yours before you shop, because it changes the answer:
- Tours and checklists only? Almost everything below does this well. Optimize for price and setup speed.
- Heavy on the knowledge base or in-app help? This narrows the field considerably — several tools here treat help content as an afterthought or a separate product.
- Surveys and NPS mattered? Also narrows it. Usetiful's surveys were widely criticized as restrictive, so this may be a chance to upgrade rather than replace.
- You used white-labeling on Premium? Confirm which tier removes vendor branding. This is the single most common pricing surprise in this category — it's frequently a tier-up.
- Multiple languages? Check the limit per tier, not just whether the feature exists.
Two more things that bite people:
MAU vs. MTU vs. assists vs. sessions. These tools don't count the same way. Usetiful billed on “assists.” Chameleon bills on Monthly Tracked Users. Most others bill on MAU. Fullstory bills on sessions. Identical traffic produces very different bills. Ask how the number is calculated and what happens when you exceed it — some tools stop showing guides, others auto-charge.
Data residency. If you need EU hosting, ask early. It's often gated to higher tiers.
The 7 best Usetiful alternatives for 2026
Best value all-in-one
Product Fruits
(Disclosure: this is us.) The closest like-for-like replacement for Usetiful's full toolbox.
No-code onboarding and in-app guidance: flows, tours, checklists, hints and tooltips, in-app announcements, NPS and surveys, a feedback widget, and a built-in knowledge base — plus Elvin, an AI copilot that answers user questions in-app.
The reason it leads this list for Usetiful refugees specifically is scope. The knowledge base and surveys are included rather than sold separately, which matters if you used Usetiful's full toolbox rather than just tours. Setup is typically same-day.
Pricing:
- Starter — $111/mo, billed annually
- Pro — $187/mo, billed annually
- Business — $374/mo, billed annually
- Custom — quote, with security audit and SLA
14-day free trial, no card required. 1,300+ teams.
The honest trade-off: product analytics are deliberately light. Product Fruits integrates with analytics tools rather than replacing them. If the appeal of the Fullstory bundle was getting analytics and guidance on one contract, this is a step the other way — you'd run two tools. What you get for that is a published price and no procurement cycle.
Best for simple, affordable onboarding
HelpHero
The cheapest way back to working onboarding.
Product tours and hotspots, built in a no-code editor with a Chrome extension. It earns the spot on price and on an unusually clean pricing model: every feature is on every tier. You pay for volume, not features — a relief if you got caught by Usetiful's white-labeling tier gate.
Pricing:
- Starter — $55/mo or $550/yr
- Growth — $115/mo or $1,150/yr
- Professional — $179/mo or $1,790/yr
- Business — $249/mo or $2,490/yr
- Enterprise — $299/mo or $2,990/yr
- Custom — contact sales
Annual billing is two months free. 14-day trial, no card.
The honest trade-off: the scope is narrower than Usetiful's. Tours and hotspots — no surveys, no NPS, no knowledge base. If you only ever used Usetiful for walkthroughs, that's you pick. If you used the surveys or the help center, this isn't your replacement.
UserGuiding
Simple onboarding with pricing you can actually read.
Tours, checklists, surveys, and resource centers, no-code. Published pricing, which is rarer in this category than it should be — and notably, it's the vendor running a dedicated Usetiful migration campaign, so expect to see them in your search results.
Pricing (billed yearly):
- Starter — $174/mo, billed annually
- Growth — $349/mo, billed annually
- Enterprise — quote
14-day trial, 30-day money-back guarantee. Exceeding your MAU quota stops guides displaying rather than auto-charging you.
The honest trade-off: web only, no mobile app support, and analytics depth varies by plan. Entry price is over 3x HelpHero's for a broadly similar core.
Appcues
The mature option, if you can get a number out of them.
One of the longest-running tools in the category — tours, checklists, surveys, launchpads — pitched as “every capability included” across plans rather than feature-gated tier by tier.
Pricing: Start (up to 3,000 MAU, 10 published experiences), Grow (from 3,000 MAU, 25 experiences), Enterprise (custom volumes, 100 experiences). Appcues has removed public pricing — no figures on any tier as of September 2026. Historically pricing started at $500/mo.
The honest trade-off: the missing pricing is a genuine friction point if you're replacing a tool you picked partly because it was transparently priced. Expect pricing at the high end of the scale.
Best for customization and analytics
Userpilot
The mid-market version of the guidance-plus-analytics pitch.
Walkthroughs, checklists, resource centers, tooltips and surveys, with product analytics as the headline strength.
If what appealed about the Fullstory bundle was analytics and guidance in one place, but the $10,000 floor didn't, this is the same idea at a tenth the entry cost.
Pricing:
- Starter — $299/mo
- Growth — from $849/mo
- Enterprise — quote
14-day trial on Starter, no card.
The honest trade-off: One of the most expensive publicly-priced tool here, and the Starter-to-Growth jump is steep. Steeper learning curve than the simpler tools; some setup benefits from technical help.
Chameleon
For teams whose complaint about Usetiful was that it looked like Usetiful.
Tours, tooltips, microsurveys and launchers, built around design control and precise targeting. Usetiful's customization ceiling — colors and fonts, essentially — was one of its most common criticisms. This is the tool built to solve exactly that.
Pricing:
- Startup — from $279/mo
- Pro — from $750/mo
- Growth — from $1,250/mo, annual billing only
- Enterprise — custom
14-day trial with full Enterprise access.
Note the counting model: Chameleon prices on Monthly Tracked Users — uniquely identified profiles sent to Chameleon — not MAU. Don't compare sticker prices directly; model your own numbers.
The honest trade-off: priced above most of this list at comparable volumes, and the Startup tier is quite limited in the feature set.
Intercom
Only if you're already paying for it.
Customer messaging and support, with product tours available as an add-on.
Pricing: Essential $29/seat/mo, Advanced $85/seat/mo, Expert $132/seat/mo. Product Tours come via the Proactive Support Plus add-on at $99/mo, which also includes Surveys, Series campaigns, Posts and Checklists. Fin AI is priced separately at $0.99 per resolution.
The honest trade-off: onboarding isn't the core product and it shows — the tour builder is less capable than every dedicated tool here. Per-seat pricing scales with your team, not your user base, which can cut either way. Worth it mainly for the vendor consolidation.
Bonus: open-source tour libraries
Not one of the seven, but worth knowing about if your budget is genuinely zero.
Shepherd.js, Driver.js and Reactour are free under permissive licenses. Intro.js is AGPL and free only for open-source, personal and non-commercial use — commercial projects need a paid licence ($9.99 for one project, $49.99 for five, $299.99 unlimited, one-time).
What you get is a tour renderer. What you don't get is a platform: no no-code editor, no targeting or segmentation, no analytics, no checklists, no surveys, no knowledge base. Every change is a code change and a deploy. The real cost is developer time, forever — which is usually why teams bought Usetiful instead of writing their own.
How Product Fruits replaces Usetiful
Usetiful did tours, checklists, tooltips, banners, surveys and NPS, and a knowledge base. Product Fruits does all of those, plus in-app announcements, a feedback widget, and the Elvin AI copilot. It's the only tool on this list that covers the full Usetiful surface area without an add-on or a second vendor.
Three things specific to this migration:
Your white-labeling isn't a tier-up. If you were on Usetiful Premium partly for custom branding, Product Fruits is white-label on every plan.
The knowledge base comes with it. Usetiful's knowledge base was one of its better-regarded pieces, and it's the feature most often missing from the cheaper alternatives. HelpHero doesn't have one. It's included here.
The price is published, and it's for the whole onboarding toolkit. $111/month billed annually at 1,500 MAU. No analytics contract, no quote, no procurement cycle. That's the whole argument against the Fullstory path for an SMB — not that Fullstory is bad, but that a line-item inside an enterprise analytics contract is a different kind of purchase from a tool you expense.
Where we're genuinely weaker: analytics. If you wanted the Fullstory bundle for the session replay and heatmaps, we don't replace that, and pretending otherwise would waste your time. Product Fruits integrates with your analytics stack; it doesn't become it.
“Setting up tours, announcements and hints is genuinely easy, even for someone non-technical... Their training materials (and Elvin! – their AI chatbot) answer pretty much every question I've had, and when something isn't covered, the team responds incredibly fast.”

How to actually migrate
Flows don't export between these tools. There's no import button, and nobody in this category offers a real Usetiful migration path — though at least one competitor will rebuild your flows manually as a sales incentive. Plan for a rebuild, and use it as an opportunity.
1. Audit before you rebuild. Pull your Usetiful analytics and find which flows actually get completed. Most teams find a third of their content is dead — tours nobody finishes, tooltips on features that shipped two years ago. Don't port what isn't working.
2. Screenshot everything. Once you cancel, your flow configurations go with the account. Capture step content, targeting rules and trigger conditions while you still have access. A spreadsheet is fine.
3. Run both in parallel. Keep Usetiful live while you rebuild. Your contract is still running; use it. Cut over per-flow, not all at once.
4. Rebuild highest-traffic first. Your new-user welcome tour earns its keep immediately. The tooltip on the settings page can wait a month.
5. Re-check your MAU math on real data. Usetiful billed on assists; almost everything else bills on MAU or MTU. Your old number doesn't translate. Run a month before committing to an annual contract.
6. Verify white-labeling on the tier you're actually buying. Not the tier in the demo.
Frequently asked questions
What happened to Usetiful pricing after the Fullstory acquisition?
Usetiful's standalone pricing no longer exists. The old tiers — a free plan with 1 tour and ~2,000 assists, Plus at ~€29/month, Premium at ~€99/month — are gone as purchasable options. Usetiful's functionality is now the “Guides and Surveys” add-on, sold only on top of a Fullstory Analytics plan, and neither the plan nor the add-on is publicly priced.
Third-party buyer data from Vendr puts Fullstory Business contracts at $10,000–$25,000/year for roughly 50K–100K monthly sessions, Advanced at $30,000–$70,000, and Enterprise at $80,000–$200,000+. The median Fullstory buyer pays $28,240/year across 455 recorded purchases. The Guides and Surveys add-on is quoted separately on top of whichever plan you land on. For a former SMB customer paying €29–€99/month, that's a jump of roughly 8x to 25x — before the add-on is priced. These are third-party estimates, not a published price list.
Is Usetiful shut down?
No. Existing accounts continue under their current contract terms, and support is still reachable. But it's no longer sold as a standalone product — new customers are directed to Fullstory's Guides and Surveys add-on instead.
Can I still sign up for Usetiful?
Not as a standalone product. The pricing page redirects to Fullstory's acquisition announcement, and the homepage points new visitors to Guides and Surveys.
What is Fullstory Guides and Surveys?
It's the relabeled Usetiful functionality, sold as a paid add-on on top of a Fullstory Analytics plan. Fullstory describes it as a way to “drive product adoption and gather user feedback with in-app guides.” It's available on all three Analytics tiers.
Do I have to buy Fullstory Enterprise to get in-app guides?
No. The add-on is available on Business, Advanced and Enterprise. But you do have to buy an Analytics plan — there's no standalone path to the guidance features.
What's the cheapest Usetiful alternative?
Among dedicated tools with published pricing, HelpHero at $55/month for 1,000 MAU. It covers tours, checklists and hotspots but not surveys, NPS or a knowledge base. If you need the broader toolbox, Product Fruits starts at $83.25/month billed annually. Open-source libraries are free but cost developer time on every change.
Can I migrate my Usetiful flows automatically?
No. No tool in this category offers a genuine Usetiful import — flows have to be rebuilt. Budget a working session for a handful of tours and a checklist; longer if you're running dozens of flows with complex targeting.
What should I do if my contract is up soon?
Ask Fullstory in writing what your renewal terms are and whether legacy pricing carries forward. Then start evaluating in parallel — rebuilding flows takes longer than you expect.
Which Usetiful alternative is right for your team?
If you used Usetiful's full toolbox — tours, surveys, and the knowledge base — Product Fruits is the closest replacement, with published pricing and no analytics contract attached. If you only ever used tours, HelpHero will do it for a third of the price. And if session replay and heatmaps were what you wanted all along, the Fullstory bundle may genuinely be the right call.
Start your free trial today, no card, no code, no commitment — or book a demo and we'll map your existing Usetiful flows to Product Fruits equivalents before you commit to anything.
