7 best Produktly alternatives compared

TL;DR

  • Produktly is the cheapest all-in-one onboarding tool, from €19/mo. Teams switch when they outgrow its features, or when per-event trigger billing gets expensive.
  • Best all-in-one: Product Fruits with tours, checklists, announcements, knowledge base, help center and surveys from $111/mo (annual billing).
  • Simple onboarding for startups: UserGuiding.
  • Cheapest tours-only tool: HelpHero from $55/mo.
  • Free and open source: Usertour.
  • Stay with Produktly if you need basic tours and a public roadmap on a tight budget.

Produktly is hard to beat on price. €19 a month buys tours, checklists, announcements, NPS, a feedback widget, a public roadmap and a changelog. Teams usually leave for one of two reasons. Their onboarding needs something Produktly doesn't build, like branching or targeting on custom events.

Or their usage grows, and because Produktly bills per trigger rather than per user, every tour start, checklist step and tooltip view moves them closer to the €199 plan.

Below are seven alternatives grouped by what you need, and where Produktly is still the better buy.

‍

What does Produktly cost, and how does billing by triggers work?

As of October 2026, Produktly's pricing page lists three plans billed by triggers, not monthly active users. A trigger is an action: one is counted when a user starts a product tour, resumes a product tour, completes a step of a checklist, submits feedback or a feature request, reads a recent changelog post, or sees a smart tip.

PlanPriceTriggers per monthIncludes
Developer€19/mo (€16 billed annually)2,0005 tours, 2 checklists, 10 smart tips, 1 NPS widget, 1 roadmap, 1 changelog, 3 seats, Produktly branding
Startup€59/mo (€50 billed annually)7,500Unlimited tours, checklists, smart tips and surveys, 5 roadmaps, 5 changelogs, 20 seats, your own branding
Growth€199/mo (€166 billed annually)50,000+Everything unlimited, 50+ seats, priority support

‍

At 3,000 users a month, one tour that each user starts and resumes is 6,000 triggers, which fits Startup. Add a 5-step checklist and it becomes 21,000, which needs Growth at €166/mo billed annually. Product Fruits Starter covers 3,000 MAU for $149/mo billed annually and counts users, not events.

Produktly lists no overage fee. Instead, it asks you to upgrade or unpublish content. The FAQ says that if you exceed the quota, "Produktly will stop serving the features for the rest of the month until your quota resets".

‍

Why teams switch from Produktly

Most teams that leave Produktly have outgrown it. As of October 2026, its docs list no tour branching, no targeting on custom events, and its micro surveys "run as a flat list with no branching." There's no knowledge base or help center, no AI assistant for your end users, and AI features run on credits sold separately on every plan.

Produktly also says on its security page that "we do not currently have certifications such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2", which matters for compliance.

Produktly's public review base is small: 3 reviews on G2 and 12 on Capterra. The gap reviewers do raise is depth:

‍

"The reporting is very basic and need to get better."

Boris, Human Resources · Capterra

‍

The second reason is cost. Because every tour start, checklist step and smart-tip view counts as a trigger, the bill grows with how much guidance you build, not with how many users you have. A team that adds one checklist to its tour can jump from €59 to €199 a month without gaining a single user, and if it goes well over the cap, the content stops showing.

‍

The 7 best Produktly alternatives, grouped by what you need

1. Product Fruits: all onboarding and in-app communication in one tool

Price: $111/month billed annually at 1,500 MAU ($149 monthly)

G2: 4.7

‍Free trial: 14 days, no credit card

‍

Product Fruits covers tours, checklists, hints, announcements and a feedback widget like Produktly does, and adds the parts Produktly doesn't build. Starter includes 15 tours, 50 hints, 2 checklists and 3 seats, plus a public Knowledge Base, an in-app help center, the Newsfeed and Elvin AI. Pro ($187/month billed annually) adds branching Flows, Custom Events, Surveys and NPS, 100 tours, unlimited checklists and 10 seats.

Flows are where it differs most. A Flow can check whether a user already did the key action and skip them ahead, or branch to a different card if they didn't. Billing counts users, not events, and content keeps showing to users above your quota while support reaches out to discuss the right plan. Product Fruits is hosted in the EU and holds SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

The catch: Surveys, branching Flows and Custom Events start on Pro, and product analytics aren't its strength. It also has no public roadmap or feature voting. If that's the part of Produktly you rely on, keep it or move it to a feedback tool like Featurebase or Canny.

2. UserGuiding: simple onboarding for startups

Price: $174/month billed annually ($249 monthly) for up to 2,000 MAU

G2: 4.7

Free trial: 14 days, no credit card

‍

A simple, no-code onboarding tool with tours, checklists, a knowledge base, product updates and NPS on its entry plan. It's the closest match to Produktly's mix of features, at a higher price.

The catch: Starter allows 1 active checklist, survey and banner. Feature requests and a roadmap, the parts many Produktly users rely on, are on Growth ($349/month billed annually).

UserGuiding pricing

‍

3. Userflow: developer-friendly

Price: $400/month billed annually for 1,000 MAU

G2: 4.8

Free trial: 14 days, no credit card

‍

A flow builder with checklists, surveys and NPS, announcements and a resource center, built for teams that want fine control over logic. For help content, it searches a 3rd party knowledge base rather than hosting one.

The catch: $400 a month for 1,000 MAU is the highest published entry price here, and each extra 1,000 MAU adds $30. If you're weighing it against us, here's how Product Fruits compares with Userflow.

‍

4. Userpilot: onboarding plus product analytics

Price: $299/month up to 2,000 MAU

G2: 4.6

Free trial: 14 days, no credit card

‍

Userpilot pairs in-app guidance with product analytics, which suits teams that want to measure feature adoption in the same tool that drives it. Starter includes NPS.

The catch: surveys beyond NPS and the resource center start on Growth, from $849 a month.

Userpilot pricing

‍

5. Chameleon: design control

Price: $279/month for 2,000 MTU

G2: 4.4

Free trial: 14 days, no credit card

‍

Chameleon is built for teams that want tours and microsurveys to look exactly like their product, with deep styling control.

The catch: Startup caps you at 10 live experiences. Unlimited experiences and HelpBar, its in-app search, need Growth at $1,250/month billed annually.

Chameleon pricing

‍

6. Appcues: native mobile apps

Price: Quote only, historically around $500/mo

G2: 4.6

Free trial: after a call with sales

‍

Appcues runs onboarding across web and native mobile apps, with email and push from the same platform. Its pricing page lists Start for up to 3,000 MAU with 10 published experiences, Grow from 3,000 MAU with 25, and a custom Enterprise plan.

Teams of 25 or fewer can take the Spark plan at $3,600 a year for up to 1,000 MAU, plus a $250 setup fee. More options for small teams are in our Appcues alternatives guide.

The catch: you can't sign up and build on your own, and every plan caps published experiences.

Appcues pricing

‍

7. HelpHero: cheapest MAU-based tours tool

Price: $55/month at 1,000 MAU

‍G2: 4.9 (from only 18 reviews)

‍Free trial: 14 days, no credit card

‍

A super simple tool for the essentials: tours, checklists and hotspots, with unlimited tours and seats on every plan.

The catch: there's no knowledge base, announcements, feedback widget or roadmap. If you use Produktly's feedback or roadmap, you lose them. We cover what HelpHero leaves out in our HelpHero alternatives guide.

Free and open-source Produktly alternatives

If the budget is close to zero, two routes cost nothing to start.

Usertour is open source under the MIT license and free to self-host, with a cloud version from $49/month billed annually. Your team runs the servers and the updates.

Libraries like Shepherd.js, Intro.js and Driver.js are free too, but your developers build, style and maintain every tour, and there's no editor for the rest of the team.

‍

How do you migrate from Produktly?

Export first, rebuild second. Produktly's terms say that on termination "any stored data may be deleted", so pull out anything you want to keep before you cancel.

  1. Export your data through the API. Produktly's REST API can read tours, checklists, roadmaps, feedback and NPS responses. It reads users one at a time and has no endpoint to list them all, so a bulk user export isn't possible that way.
  2. Rebuild tours and checklists in the new tool. Start with the one or two flows that drive activation, not the whole library.
  3. Swap the snippet. Replace Produktly's script and its window.Produktly.identifyUser call with the new tool's snippet and identify call, passing the same user ID and attributes.
  4. Remove Produktly once the new content is live, so users don't see two tours at once.

‍

When is Produktly still the better buy?

Stay with Produktly if you need basic tours, feedback and a public roadmap at low usage, and your budget sits below Product Fruits' $111 entry price.

Stay if you own an AppSumo code. The $79 lifetime deal is still on sale and includes 10,000 triggers a month, more than the €59 Startup plan.

And stay if you need many languages on a small budget. Produktly includes 59 languages on every plan.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best Produktly alternatives?

As of October 2026, the best Produktly alternatives are Product Fruits for all onboarding and in-app communication in one tool, UserGuiding for simple onboarding, Userflow for developer-friendly flows, Userpilot for analytics, Chameleon for design control, Appcues for native mobile apps and HelpHero for the cheapest tours-only setup. Usertour is the free, open-source option.

How much does Produktly cost?

Produktly costs €19/month on the Developer plan, €59 on Startup and €199 on Growth, or €16, €50 and €166 a month billed annually. Each plan includes a monthly trigger quota: 2,000, 7,500 and 50,000+. Enterprise pricing is a custom quote.

What counts as a trigger in Produktly?

A trigger is counted each time a user starts or resumes a tour, completes a checklist step, submits feedback or a feature request, reads a changelog post that's at most a week old, or sees a smart tip. So one user can use several triggers a month, and the count grows with every piece of onboarding you add.

What happens when you go over your Produktly trigger limit?

Produktly asks you to upgrade or unpublish content. If you exceed the quota significantly and don't upgrade, it stops serving your tours and widgets for the rest of the month, until the quota resets. Product Fruits, by contrast, keeps showing content to users above your quota while support discusses the right plan with you.

Does Produktly have a knowledge base?

No. Produktly's features, docs and pricing list no knowledge base or in-app help center. If you need help articles inside your app, Product Fruits includes a public knowledge base and help center on Starter, and UserGuiding includes a knowledge base on its entry plan.

Produktly vs Product Fruits: which is cheaper?

Produktly is cheaper at low usage: €19 to €59 a month against Product Fruits Starter at $111/month billed annually for 1,500 MAU. Product Fruits counts users rather than events, adds a Knowledge Base, help center and Elvin AI, and is hosted in the EU with SOC 2 and ISO 27001. Branching Flows and Custom Events need Pro at $187/month billed annually.

How do I migrate from Produktly?

Export what you want to keep through Produktly's REST API before you cancel, because its terms say stored data may be deleted on termination. Then rebuild your key tours and checklists in the new tool, swap Produktly's snippet and identify call for the new one, and remove Produktly once the new content is live.

Is there a free Produktly alternative?

Yes. Usertour is open source and free to self-host, with a paid cloud version from $49/month billed annually. Shepherd.js, Intro.js and Driver.js are free libraries, but your developers build and maintain every tour.

‍

The bottom line

Produktly is the right tool until your onboarding needs more than it builds, or until trigger counting makes the bill hard to predict. If you need branching, custom events, a knowledge base or certified security, pick a tool that has them on the plan you can afford. If you mainly need cheap tours and a public roadmap, Produktly still does that well.
