How much does Pendo cost? Plans, real contract figures and questions to ask

Pendo doesn't publish its prices. All three paid plans, Base, Core and Ultimate, say "Request pricing" on Pendo's pricing page. Your price is quoted on your monthly active users (MAU) and the features you choose.

The closest thing to a public price is what other buyers paid: Vendr puts the median Pendo contract at about $48,600 a year, across 590 purchases.

This guide covers what each Pendo plan includes, how Pendo counts MAU, what its public contract terms say, and the questions worth asking before you sign.

‍

Pendo's plans at a glance

Pendo sells three paid plans. None shows a price, and each is sold at a custom MAU volume.

Plan What it includes Price shown
Base Product analytics, in-app guides Request pricing
Core Everything in Base, plus session replay Request pricing
Ultimate Everything in Core, plus sentiment surveys (NPS, PMF, CSAT), Orchestrate, Listen and Data Sync Request pricing

Every plan also includes Leo, Pendo's AI assistant, plus retroactive analytics, SOC 2, GDPR and HIPAA compliance, and integrations. Pendo also sells two AI products you can add to any plan: Predict, priced by prediction volume, and Agent Analytics, priced by prompt volume.

Is there a free Pendo plan?

Not for new customers. Pendo Free (up to 500 MAU) is still open to people who already use it. New users are sent to Novus, a separate free beta that connects to your code and flags problems in your product. Novus doesn't include in-app guides, so it isn't a free way to run user onboarding.

‍

How Pendo pricing works

Two things set your Pendo price: how many monthly active users (MAU) you track, and which features your plan includes. Pendo counts an MAU as a unique visitor who was active in your app at least once in the last 30 days. The total rises with MAU, while the cost per MAU falls as you grow, and Pendo says volume and bundle discounts are built in.

If you run more than one app, read the fine print. Pendo's pricing FAQ says there's no extra cost per application. But its help docs say that under the current standard model each app counts MAU on its own, so one person who uses two of your apps in a month counts as 2 MAU. Older contracts count each person once across the subscription. There's no fee per app, but more apps can mean more MAU on your bill.

Some features cost extra unless you're on Ultimate. Pendo's plan comparison marks session replay (on Base), product discovery, sentiment surveys and NPS, and journey orchestration as paid add-ons on Base and Core.

Going over your MAU limit won't switch anything off on a paid plan. Pendo's FAQ says your account rep gets in touch about a contract adjustment. Its terms of service (section 8e) add that Pendo may raise your fees at your unit price from the date you first went over, for the rest of your term.

‍

What buyers report paying

The median Pendo contract is about $48,600 a year, according to Vendr's data on 590 purchases. Vendr's range runs from $18,625 to $151,741 a year, and buyers saved 12% on average.

Treat these as what other companies paid, not a quote for you. Your price will depend on your MAU, how many apps you track, the add-ons you pick and the length of your contract.

Why so few real numbers? Pendo's terms treat pricing as confidential information, so customers can't easily share what they pay.

Contract terms worth knowing

Pendo's public Terms of Service set the ground rules, and your order form sets the rest: price, term and renewal. Where the two differ, the order form wins.

First, what you can't undo. Unless your agreement says otherwise, payment obligations are non-cancellable and payments are non-refundable (section 8a). Invoices are due in 30 days unless your order form says something else. Pendo can also rename or repackage plans and change how pricing is described without notice, as long as your features and total price for the current term don't drop (section 3f).

Then, what to check before you sign. Renewal and notice periods aren't in the public terms, so look for them in your order form. Changes to the terms apply at renewal (section 16h). When you leave, you can export your data before the term ends or request a copy for up to 30 days after. Then Pendo deletes it (section 12d).

‍

Questions to ask Pendo sales

Since every price is a quote, the questions you ask shape the number you get. These five come straight from Pendo's own pricing page and terms:

  1. How will you count our MAU? Per app or once across the subscription, and which of our apps count?
  2. What happens if we go over? What's the price per extra MAU, and does it apply from the day we go over?
  3. What's in our plan, and what's an add-on? Ask about session replay, surveys and NPS, journey orchestration, SAML SSO and the AI add-ons.
  4. When does it renew? How much notice do we need to give, and is there a cap on price increases?
  5. How do we get our data out if we leave? Pendo's terms give you 30 days after the term ends.

It's also worth asking whether setup and training cost extra, how long the term is and how it's billed, and whether you can try the platform first. Pendo's pricing page says to talk to sales to start a trial.

‍

Where Pendo is strong

Pendo is built around product analytics, and that's where it leads. It captures usage from the moment you install it, so you can look back at data you didn't plan to track. Core and Ultimate add session replay. It runs natively on iOS, Android, React Native and Flutter, and you can test one version of a guide against another. You can host your data in the US, EU, Japan or Australia, and more than 14,000 companies use it, with more than 1,800 reviews on G2.

If deep product analytics is the main thing you're buying, Pendo is designed for that. Some teams keep the analytics tool they already have and use a separate, lighter tool for user onboarding. If that's you, see our list of Pendo alternatives for small teams.
